Today’s guest on Sustainable: The Podcast is Jon Molyneux, Head of Communications at ZeroWaste Scotland.

Starting the show Jon talks about the Circular Economy, which is a way of keep materials in high-value productive use for as long as possible or, as the Zerowaste tagline says, “making things last”.

Key to the circular economy is thinking about how you design your products, the ecosystems in which they live in and also, how you can look to nature for inspiration with this process.

Jon points out that the circular economy is happening now.  ZeroWaste Scotland can offer support, advice and investment to help companies and organisations shift to the circular economy before sharing some case studies of companies they work with that are implementing the circular economy within their business.

ZeroWaste has £18 million to invest in implementing the circular economy in small and medium sized enterprises over the next two years.

Circular economy business models tend to be more profitable and offer companies long-term resilience in a volatile marketplace.  There is huge value in shifting from a selling model to a leasing model, for example.

Also, find out how Jon’s personal sustainability behaviour has evolved over the years.

Lastly, discover why Scotland is uniquely placed to become a leader in the global transition to a circular economy.

Jon most admires:
