Our Story
Earthself began with a simple yet disruptive question:
If Earth itself were a business, how would it exist in today’s world?
Founded in Scotland in 2015, Earthself emerged as a calling, a quest — a challenge from Earth itself. Our dominant models of coaching, leadership, and organisational development are missing a vital dimension: our connection with Earth. That the work we do can still be dismissed by sceptics as “tree-hugging hippy shit” shows just how deeply disconnected we are.
What began as a seed of inquiry grew into a body of work exploring how Earth’s intelligence can reshape how we live, lead, make decisions, and create impact. Pushing the boundaries of the mainstream, we created our own projects and organisations to refine our methodology and test what EarthConnected practice looks like in reality.
Earth’s 4.5 billion years of sustaining life informs the work we do
It reminds us that the most enduring and successful system of intelligence we can learn from is Earth itself.
Since our inception, Earthself evolved from a small coaching practice into a Community Interest Company committed to systemic change. Our work now spans coach training, organisational development, and community-focused projects — all grounded in peer-reviewed research on Earth Connection, developed by our Founder-Director. The practice of Becoming EarthConnected emerged from this research and continues to shape and evolve our work.
Our approach has been shaped not only by professional training and research, but by lived experience — including our Founder-Director’s journey as a late-diagnosed autistic woman navigating systems not built for neurodivergent ways of knowing, sensing, and leading. This perspective underpins our commitment to neuro-inclusion, trauma-informed practice, and Earth-aligned ways of working that honour diverse ways of being in the world. As an autistic-led organisation, we are committed to responding, adapting, and evolving to meet the needs of those we work with.
Throughout this past decade, one thing has remained constant:
Earth is at the core.
Not as metaphor — but as guide, teacher, collaborator, and stakeholder.
Today, Earthself supports coaches, organisations, and communities to deepen their relationship with Earth, unlock Earth’s intelligence, and embed nature into how they function — creating impact that benefits both people and Earth itself.
And like all living systems, we continue to evolve — listening, learning, and adapting as we explore what it truly means to live and work in alignment with Earth’s intelligence.
